- What kind of Modem do you have? (DSL, Cable, Broadband, Dial up)
- If it is a Dial up modem continue to Dale's not able to connect using a Dial up modem List Unless the Modem Can Connect, then Continue
- How is your modem connected to you computer (Internal, Cat 5, Coax, USB)
- Have you called your ISP?
- Have they sent anyone out to your residence?
- Have you received a new [DSL / Cable / Broadband] modem?
Check to make sure there is a Physical Connection
- Is the Broadband modem connected to the source (Cable / Phone line)?
- Are the Proper lights lit on the Broadband Modem? [Power], [Cable, DSL], [USB, Ethernet]
- Make sure the Ethernet connection LED is lit on the back of the Network port, if the LED is Present.
If they Haven't Called their ISP
- Have them disconnect the Power from the back of the Broadband Modem for 1 minute
- Have them plug the Power back into the Modem
- Restart the Computer
Connectivity Check
- Ping 127.0.0.1 ( This will tell us if TCP / IP is working correctly )
- If the Reply is Successful TCP / IP should be working correctly
- If the Reply is not Successful TCP/IP Uninstall Reinstall
- Ping Google.com ( This will tell us if we have DNS and Internet Connectivity)
- If the Reply is Successful Go to Dale's Venturing out with Internet Explorer
- If the Reply is not Successful Go to Dale's IP Address Revolver
- If "Cannot find Host" Check the Drivers
